Commercial

Dart Harbour is a historic commercial port, and we welcome commercial vessels of all types – whether permanently based on the Dart, or here for a short period. We are extremely flexible and try to accommodate any request – email [email protected] if you have a particular requirement.

Pilots are required for vessels over 50m, as well as for smaller vessels carrying passengers, oil cargos, or navigating above the Anchor Stone.  Full details can be found here.

Fishing

Dartmouth is a busy fishing harbour – one of England’s most important shellfish ports, though we also have a thriving fleet of small line fishing boats.

There are commercial deep water fish quays at South Embankment in Dartmouth, and in Kingswear.  Both have good access for HGVs, and are provided with davits for handling catch.

Our KP Fisherman’s pontoon has recently been replaced, and now provides an excellent base for our fleet, with ample space for storage, electricity, water, and waste facilities.

We work in partnership with South Devon & Channel Shellfishermen – a cooperative association, to continually develop this vital part of our harbour.

Workboats, towage & Marine Civils

Dart Harbour is now an important base for marine construction and civil engineering vessels, with a fleet of barges, dive boats and tugs based on our Noss Commercial Moorings.  We also have a number of smaller civil engineering vessels based in Dartmouth, often used in the complex construction work for riverside homes on the Dart.  Our quaysides in Dartmouth North and South Embankment provide convenient loading facilities for these vessels.

Dartmouth’s position in the heart of the Western Approaches is an ideal short or long term base for workboats, tugs and project vessels – with short journey times to ports from Rotterdam to Dublin all within 300NM, excellent shelter and all-tide access.
