Dartmouth is a popular port of call for cruise ships and superyachts many of whom return year after year. With its glorious backdrop of South Devon countryside, the ancient riverside town of Dartmouth, with its historic connections to the Crusades and the Mayflower, it is the perfect spot for your passengers and crew.
Arrival in Dartmouth is amongst the most spectacular ports in the world – the ship passes between our defending castles to enter the narrow but deep estuary, and moors in the heart of the town, with the impressive Britannia Royal Naval College on the hill above. Tendering ashore is just a minute or two to our modern well designed tender pier.
A unique feature of Dartmouth is that most of our tours do not involve getting on a coach. Cruise guests love this refreshing change – leaving the town by steam train, riverboat, paddleboard, classic fishing trawler, paddle steamer, or by foot. The range of tours is impressive – ranging from Agatha Christie’s summer home to rewilding projects, and from driving a steam train to going deep underground in the caves of our UNESCO global geopark.
Dartmouth is also a stunning place for more independent guests to explore by themselves – a shoppers’ paradise with almost 200 boutiques, galleries, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, and with centuries of history – the Mayflower set sail from here and the Pilgrim Fathers would still recognise our historic quaysides today.
We are developing a new mooring for 2024 which will be able to take ships up to around 255m in length in deep water. Our existing moorings can take ships up to around 200m, depending on tide. Full details are available on this link
