LNTM 26-24 – Saltmarsh Restoration
Saltmarsh restoration work will take place from 23/10/2024 for several months, in the area between Sharpham and Totnes. This work will initially take place on the east bank of the river, opposite 40′ off navigation mark, and in Home Reach.
This work will mostly consist of installing brushwood bundles in some of the gullies through these marshes, and along some parts of the perimeter, with the aim of increasing sediment build up within the marsh. All work will be carried out by hand, from Dart Harbour vessels and from small temporary aquadock pontoons, which will be put in place for a short period to provide a working platform.
Vessels are requested to give ample clearance to works in this area, though there is no impact expected on the main navigational channel either during or following the works.
This work is being carried out as part of the Saltmarsh Project – a joint partnership between the Environment Agency, Dart Harbour, The South Devon National Landscape, Sharpham Estate, the Duchy of Cornwall and the Bioregional Learning Centre, as well as other landowner and scientific partners.
